Guest blogging has now become famous and many blogs has guest posting. The main idea for a guest post is to give yourself and your content some exposure. If you can write a guest post at Problogger, then you will get your article read by many people and also you will get thousands' of new visitors and subscribers. Recently two videos were posted on youtube about Guest blogging. One is a post saying guest blogging is a waste of time. You can see Mark of 45n5.com in the video below:
As a response for this video, Nate Whitehill and Josh did a post on youtube which you can see below:
What is your idea on Guest Blogging? Is it worth the time? Do you Guest Blog?

Since I have guest bloggers, I don't think it's a waste of time. I think it can be quite helpful. The guest blogger not only gets more exposure, they also get a link to their blog, which helps for Search Engine traffic.
George, I agree with you on the link back part. I do read all the guest posts. If I find any article that interests me, I will read it.
It's certainly not a waste of time, but if a post is that good then why not have it on your own blog.
Angel, I agree. Most Guest posts are just great in content. Few days ago Trent wrote a guest post in problogger which is on top in Stumbleupon and Del.icio.us. So that means problogger.net is getting a huge traffic from that guest post.
I'm the guy in the first video so you already know what I think ;-)
Thanks for sharing my video.
Cheers,
Mark
Yeah Mark. I know you are the one in the video. And I also know what you have got to say in the discussion.
Mark, I also saw your other video on the '31 Day Challenge'. Good work man.
I seem to be posting lots of Ezine articles around my blogs and consider them to be "guest authors" or "guest articles" .. so, I guess I don't mind guest bloggers - per se.
If I were to mind .. it would be the articles that first have a paragraph to introduce the guest author, then the guest writer writes a paragraph to thank the original owner for being able to guest author,.. and then the owner comes back and adds another paragraph at the end of the post to clarify the guest author's post or meaning or even to add his/her 2 cents or to denounce it altogether, when in fact that could have just been done on a separate post anyway.
If it's readable content - it doesn't matter who wrote it. It's all that other crap that sometimes makes me just hit next in my Bloglines than even take the chance to read the content at all.
One thing is for sure .. guest authors who appear on ProBlogger seem to be doing well afterwards :)
As for Mark (454n5)'s suggestion ... If I wasn't so ugly, had a lousy speaking voice and hated to see or hear myself on camera .. and actually bought a camera .. I think I could get into that 2 minutes per day video blogging. Maybe one day.
Hart, I agree about the guest posts at Problogger. They have good quality.
And we have to appreciate Mark on doing this video with great courage.
well, when you post a comment on a blog - any blog - you are already a guest...
Is it good or bad?
Now, compared with comments, actual blog entries do bring more exposure. I don't see the waste of time in in.
It's a win-win situation. The host blog gains free content, the guest blogger gets exposure and even the chance to link to his/her site for free.
Now, about guest bloggers and quality: it's up to the owner of the blog to reject or approve entries. If an entry lacks quality we cannot only blame the guest blogger.
Michaela, I understand what you say. I do support guest blogging. But what is said in the video is that guest bloggers few times do a mistake of posting what is already said in the blog few months ago. Anyway thanks for your comments.
